The winners of the 2007 Horticultural Competition are:

   1st Place: Filomena Salamone
   2nd Place: Clarice Henry
3rd Place: It's a tie! Barbara Levine, Yasmine Bendris, and Judy Basse

Congratulations to all!

Our monthly horticultural competition is run for the enjoyment and education of our members. All are encouraged to participate, whether you are a serious competitor or just want to have some fun.

There are twenty-three classes of plant material ranging from potted, cut, and arranged material to specific plant families such as orchids, roses, and herbs.

An exhibitor may bring in three entries a month. All entries must be on the exhibit table by 1:45pm for Sunday afternoon meetings and by 7:45pm for Wednesday evening meetings. For more information, see the list of classes and more detailed instructions in the Competition Show Manual.

Each exhibitor earns points. The member with the highest number of points at the end of the year wins a prize. So come on and give it a try!

New Policy

Before you arrive at a meeting, please consult the Competition Show Manual and fill out a "green form" (entry form). Doing so beforehand will save a lot of time during the meeting.

Please volunteer!

At each meeting, three members serve as judges for the day.
You do not have to be an expert gardener in order to be a judge. To make the process smoother and more efficient, it would be wonderful to have the judges chosen before meetings begin. So please e-mail Lynn Thomson at competition@lihort.org to let her know that you'd like to help out at one or two competitions throughout the year.

Take a look at our photo album page for pictures of our last few competition winners.
