Scholarships

The Long Island Horticultural Society, founded in 1934, promotes the study of horticulture on Long Island by helping to further the education of worthy students planning a career in the field.

The Society gave one $2000 award in 2009. The award check was presented at our May meeting.

Requirements:

  • resident of Long Island
  • matriculated student (part-time or full-time) in a horticultural program
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • interest in pursuing a career in horticulture

How to Apply

  • fill out the application
  • attach two letters of recommentation, preferably one from a teacher
  • attach a transcript from the school you are now attending
  • attach an essay of 100 words or less that includes a brief biography, your prior experience in horticulture, your professional goals, and how your academic interests relate to your career objective
  • Mail the above to:
