President's Message...

What a great turnout we had for the January meeting! A few old friends, a few new faces, and our loyal members and great speakers full of information. The value of membership in LI Hort is different for everyone, but we all realize it has value.

We have added a ‘exhibition’ table as another function of LI Hort. Levy kicked it off showing us the propagation ‘timeline’ of a Streptocarpus (cape primrose) plant. The exhibition table can be anything you want plant or garden related. If you have something for the competition table, but arrive at the meeting too late, you can display your work as an exhibition. If you are working on a project and want to show the various stages each month, show it off as an exhibition. I hope you find this as an added value to your membership.

Today, on Superbowl Sunday, while my husband is watching the big game, I will be ordering plants from the catalogs I have been receiving all month. I’ll pop my head in to watch the commercials (in my mind, the best part of the event), but otherwise I will be in plant heaven. Happy Gardening!
