This table can also be used by members to educate members about a type of plant or show off a specific technique. At the March meeting Barbara Hanft showed off her orchid collection.

Seed Swap

Come and join us for our 3rd Annual Seed Swap at the April 14 Meeting.

You must bring in seeds to participate in the Seed Swap.

These can be seeds you have harvested from your garden or seeds you have purchased.

All types of seeds are included: Annuals, Perennials, Biennials, Herbs, Flowers & Vegetables

Please include some information on the packets so other members will have some idea of how to grow them. We have a template for making packets if you would like to use it.

President's Message....

Happy Spring! I think the first day of spring is one of the happiest days for gardeners (the other being the day the tomatoes are ready for picking!) My daffodils are blooming and the perennials are pushing through the dirt. I am always amazed to watch the world reawaken.

I have started my seeds in the house, and as usual, they are all over the place – every flat surface has been put to use. I will have to find a hiding place for them when my family comes for Easter Brunch in 2 weeks.

We have a bunch of exciting things planned for LI Hort. Mark your calendars. The Plant Sale starts it all on May 19. I never have enough plants. On June 30, we are having a “Learn to Photograph Your Garden” with Yvonne Berger. We will be in the Synoptic Garden at Planting Fields, and Yvonne will be walking through with us. Bring your camera or your phone camera – it all works! July 19 we are taking a trip to Landcraft Environmental to visit the garden of Dennis Schrader. If you have not seen his gardens before, you are in for a treat. Dennis has unusual plants, garden rooms, meadows, and more. The cost is $10 a person. Don’t miss this one. July 20 we are having a picnic at Centerport Beach. More details to follow.

The calendar says spring, I don’t care what the thermometer says, bring on the gardening.

I have uploaded it here to the website instead.Click Here.

We will be presenting the James and Mary Lee Fuller Scholarship Award at the April Meeting. Priscilla Bauerschmidt has written an article about our winner.

Start thinking about getting plants ready for our Spring Plant Sale on May 19!

Look in the garden for volunteers and plants that need dividing.

Pot up the plants you wish to donate at least one week before our sale, label each pot with plant names and requirements. Think about using photos to show what the plant will look like in flower.
